brilliant, i got my first hate comment...awesome! it always surprises me how extreme people are willing to get when they can remain anonymous...i'd be willing to bet that if they had to put their name to their comments and stuff like that was traceable then they'd tone it down a lot...

for example, i'm not Alex Ferguson's biggest fan...i'll happily shout and scream abuse in his direction when Arsenal are getting smashed by Man Utd but if i ever met him in real life i'd shake his hand and be quite friendly...mainly 'cos i wouldn't want to come across as a twat but also because i was brought up properly to be polite and respectful...

so with the haters, my first reaction is to offer them out...seriously, if they want to say that stuff then they can say it to my face and we can 'discuss' it...i come from Essex after all and thats how we deal with things...but then that's not the right thing to do...the right thing is to ignore it and carry on...so if you wanna post hate, carry on...i'll ignore you and press delete...its takes almost no effort for me to do that, certainly waay less than it took Anonymous to knuckle out an insult on his keyboard...

Maybe we should have a 'would you want your Mum to read this' filter applied to the internet? oh wait, that's definitely not such a good idea...

in closing, i have deleted the comment but it does make it look like someone coming to the defense of this blog is actually insulting someone else...my bad...please insert a shitty comment between Mayank's comment and Neil's comment to properly understand the thread :)

Meh, I'll admit, I have some qualms about the new Dante. But being an idiot and childish about the whole thing does nothing but annoy others. Plus, I'm refusing to make judgments until I get to play what looks like solid gameplay. No point in judging something without any real knowledge in it after all.

Btw, in a vaguley but not really related sense, know of any testing work going on DmC that I might be able to go for?

I'm not sure why some fans think they have to right to abuse the people that are developing a title in a manner that is akin to them having done some serious wrong to them. Seriously guys, we haven't accidentally left a scalpel inside your mom during a triple bypass operation.

Believe me, all of us that do work in games are extremely passionate about our work and want to deliver the best work we possibly can. There are very few of us that are content knocking out any old shit. But you know what? Making games is extremely difficult. You might not possibly get how incredibly complex, time consuming and sometimes soul destroying development work can be. But we of course love it, we wouldn't want to do anything else.

Do we really deserve the hate?

Umm.. not sure if Mark is having a dig at me for my opinion or not. If so, then sorry, and I do know how time-consuming it can be. Otherwise, please ignore this comment.

I do not believe Mark's comments are in regards to your comment.

The truth of the matter is video game developers work extremely hard to bring us inspiring and enjoyable games, both AAA and indie based. Never will you find a situation where everyone loves everything about a project. Thats just the fact of life.

Unfortunately there is however, a naivety that persists in the consumer market, which if they had a true understanding of the production pipeline, I very much doubt they would be forthcoming with such a negative attitude. The use of anon account names further reflects the fact that through discussing the comment, we are giving space to the mindless minority, when we are all gathered here to read about the industry we aspire to be apart of.

@rorofightthpowa No definitely not against you - it was against the rather disturbing comment that was anonymously posted, which Mat has since deleted.

You only need to look in a DmC thread on NeoGaf to see some pretty horrible reactions against Ninja Theory for a group that are really just trying to do their best. I know how talented they all are, so it saddens me to see them being lambasted in such a petty manner.

Yeah, it is a little ridiculous how a lot of players have some sort of entitlement issues, and never think about the work the developers are putting in. Combine that with those same gamers' fear of change, and things turn unnecessarily ugly.

Also, to any non-programmers out there, game development is near enough the most complex form of programming that is done. Threading to insane levels, memory management, AI programming, GPU processing, etc.

Games are not easy, so don't act like they are just banged out without any effort.
